The first Saturday I was here, my unit decided to go ice skating. That's right. Be jealous. I went ice skating in Australia :]The people in this picture are as follows, from left to right: Jarrod, Me, Emma, Chantelle, Clint (in the back), Kylie and Jock. We're missing a few people (Devo, Sid and Josh) but this is basically my unit. At the skate rink. It was pretty awesome.
We all just piled into two cars and drove 20 minutes to the skate rink. And then we skated in circles for 2 hours. It was painful work! But it helped that one of the safety people was REALLY good looking. All us girls found him quite attractive. Haha.. we just liked to look at him as he skated past. He was also really good at skating. And apparently enjoyed showing off. There were heaps of little kids there too. I think like 4 different people were having their birthday parties there that day. They were just all over the place! And they don't pay attention to where they're skating, so you have to make sure you don't fall over them. It was awful. And the ice was bumpy. I don't think they had smoothed it over in maybe 2 or 3 hours? There were all these grooves and bumps and stuff and it was just awful to skate over, especially in the dinky little rented skates we had. Although I will say, I was the only one in the group to not fall over. Which I think was an accomplishment.
We took a break halfway through and some of the guys ordered chips and gravy. I had no idea what this was, so they made me try it. By made I mean they said "You have to try this" and I said "Is it gross?" and they said "No" so I said "Okay." It was actually really good. Chips here are actually french fries. Basically chips and gravy is something that needs to be eaten again while I'm here. I've decided :]
After we were done skating we decided to head back to uni, and I'm pretty sure we all took naps. I actually went down to the pool to lay in the sun and read a book. But it's almost the same thing. I forgot how hard ice skating is if you haven't done it in awhile..
(This is Jock ice skating, and for once, not falling over - it was his first time)
