From the Airport to Uni

After spending what felt like my entire life on the plane (it was only 15 hours) I got to get off. I had almost forgotten what standing felt like. It was rather painful. Unboarding didn't take too long and soon I was walking past the drug sniffing dogs to go pick up my luggage. I went through customs stage one, where I showed them my passport and confirmed that I had a visa, and then I went to go get my bags. There were more drug dogs here. I'm really glad my bags were brightly colored because I was in and out of there quite quickly. Everyone else was checking tags and picking stuff up and putting it back. I was just like. That one, and that other one that's hurting your eyes. Yes those are mine :] After that I walked through customs part two where they were like, do you have food on you? Yes? What kind? M&M's? Just walk through. It was pretty spiffy. Some other people had to unpack their suitcases and have their food examined. I'm glad that wasn't me, because I don't know if I would have been able to repack my suitcase. It was quite full.

I made it through the airport, and changed my money so I could buy a train ticket. But. It turned out that the train station at the airport was closed. So, instead of taking the train to the Central Train Station, I had to take the airport bus. Which I somehow managed to do. Sleeping on a plane is never very restful. And I was quite tired. And for some reason, everything was bright when it was supposed to be night.

But I made it to the train station and managed to buy my ticket. But then I was really lost, so I asked the helpful security guard how to get to my platform. And then I got lost again, so I asked another one. I made it to the train this time, but I had to ask one of the workers which train was actually the one I wanted. They were also quite helpful. I got on the train and managed to sit there and stay awake. The landscape during the train ride was gorgeous.

I took the train from Sydney to Hamilton where I switched trains and went from Hamilton to Warabrook I think. It's the University stop. I got off here and had to ask some helpful Aussies which way to turn on the bridge to get to the Uni. After walking along the road for awhile, the Security people stopped and asked if I wanted a lift. This was good because I was feeling pretty worn down. And hot. And smelly. And I really really wanted a shower.

They drove me to International House (which is where I live) and called the on-call RA for me and she gave me my keys and walked me to my unit and my room. And basically was amazing.
