Okay... So, I'm almost caught up with what I've done, and what today is.
Now on the agenda: Easter Break Road Trip!! :D
We created this idea because it was going to be really lonely on campus over the break. So Jock suggested that I visit my roommates. I thought this was a great idea. Originally it was going to be just me, taking the train to visit everyone. Then Bex asked if she could come along. And then Liam asked if he could come along. Which was great. Because Liam has a car. And that makes the road part of the road trip that much easier :]
So basically we decided that on Sunday we'd go down to Sydney to visit Chantelle, the Monday to Allworth to visit Josh, then Tuesday to Port Macquarie to visit Jarrod, then Wednesday to Narrabri to visit Jock, then Thursday to Quirindi to visit Emma, then back to Uni. Chan and Jarrod had to pull out because of various reasons.. So we left Monday to go to Josh, and left for Narrabri on Tuesday.
We left about 12 on Monday, stopped to get some petrol and headed to Josh's. It took about 45 min to get there. So it wasn't a bad start to the road trip. The weather was amazing and the sun was shining. It wasn't too hard to find Josh's house. Only Liam drove past the driveway and killed a bird. (By killed a bird I mean there was a dead bird in the road and we blamed him for killing it.) But he turned around and made it back to Josh's driveway. On the way down however, he hit a really big rock and tore a small hole in his muffler, so now his car sounds like a racecar.. pretty awesome? yes.
Anyway, Josh's family is really nice. When we got there, he took us out to see some of his land. It was pretty cool. They live on quite a few acres. We drove to where they used to keep their chickens and had a look around. They have four sheds that housed 25,000 chickens each. (For those who have issues with math thats 100,000 chickens.) And they have a sheep. His name is Max. Max was a pretty awesome sheep. However to get to the sheep we had to walk through a shed. Josh didn't tell us until after we had left the shed that there were probably snakes in there (sorry mommy). But we didn't get eaten. So we're good. No snake bites :] There were also heaps of dilapidated cars there. The boys (Josh and his brother Dominic and their cousin Aaron) apparently like to play with them..
After we finished looking at the cars and chicken sheds and such.. we went for a walk down to the point place thing. It's basically where their land hits the river. And it was gorgeous there. Gorgeous. To get there we had to walk down a dirt road, cross a paddock and do some more walking and such.. but we did get there (we got a car halfway through). But as you can see in the picture here.. it's really pretty.. But there were also 100 million mozzies there (I'm really not exaggerating that much) and we were getting eaten alive, so we decided to peace out back to the house, and josh suggested we go wakeboarding. Which was amazing fun.. See following paragraph :]
This is me kneeboarding. Yes. Kneeboarding. On my bad knee.. Good idea? Maybe not. But it was definitely worth it.. It was so much fun though. Josh's little brother Dom went first, and it honestly didn't look too hard.. so eventually, after some prodding, I was convinced to go and try it. And it was heaps of fun. Heaps of heaps of fun! Only my arms and upper back were rather sore the next day.. Ouch? haha.. At this point, in the picture over there.. I was apparently calling Josh (who was driving the boat) a bastard because he went over the bumpy waves.. I don't know why I would have called him that, but he swears he heard me say that. I think he's just looking for something to complain about :] Anyway, it took me forever to actually get to where I could sit up on the kneeboard.. It was a litle tricky, mostly because it's a bit different from water skiing.. We all took a turn on the kneeboarding thing. Josh went last and fell over a few times.. This is where I'm going to point out I didn't fall over once :]
After kneeboarding, we headed back to Josh's for some yummy dinner (his parents made us steak and potatoes).. and we watched a movie. It was an Australian film called "The Proposal" and it was actually quite intense.. It was really intense.. really. But that's okay. Josh's house is really nice. His parents built it themselves. And (mom you'll love this) their kitchen is amazing. It's got lots of room, and counters and did I mention it has room? haha... Josh gave us the grand tour of the house.. there were the kids rooms, the bathroom, some spare rooms, the kitchen/dining room/living room which was like one big huge room.. and the outside. Which was amazing.
In the morning.. Josh made us breakfast. (See picture to the left. And yes, I know he looks like he wants to kill us. I know.)This included eggs, bacon and toast. It was amazing. He cooked it on the grill outside and I was actually hungry for once. I made a sandwich out of my eggs bacon and toast. Just like mommy :]
After brekky, Josh took us driving in one of the paddocks. Yes. Josh let us drive a manual in one of his paddocks. Where there were cows. But don't worry! I didn't hit the cows.. I just lost control of the ute (aka truck) and fishtailed a bit. Haha.. but it's all good. Nothing was broken. I can't say the same for when Bex was driving though! She went over a log or something, and then three more bumps and because I was sitting in the back of the ute I went flying up in the air. Flying. As in, not attached to the ute anymore.. But it was fun.. until Josh started driving and then we were going flying all over the place in the back.. I also blame him for the mini cut on my finger. It was all his fault haha. After we got back from the paddock, we had to pack up and drive to Jocks because it was basically a five hour drive.
As we drove to Jocks, we accidentally took a bit of a detour. Only. No one actually informed us it was a detour. As in, the Navman informed us that we needed to turn right (when we really needed to turn left). It then told us to drive to Clarence Town, take a left, a left, a left and a right (essentially a U-turn) and then to drive back to where we were originally. It never told us that we were going the wrong way or anything. Nope. We just had to basically go to Clarence Town drive around a block and drive back. It took us basically an hour. We were not pleased. At all. Stupid Clarence Town. On our way up to Narrabri, we stopped in Aberdeen and got some REALLY good chips (french fries). They had chicken salt on them? I think? It was kinda sweet and kinda salty. It was delicious... We also stopped on our way back to uni. Anyway.. the drive up to Jock was very flat. VERY VERY VERY flat. It was very un-nervingly flat. See the flatness? I prefer the mountains.. or at least the hills.. even though I complain about them ALL the time :]
(See? Flat!)
