World Cup
Soccer (football, whatever) is quite big here in Australia, especially with the World Cup just starting and all.. The Australian national team, the Soccaroos (yes, they're actually called that), just lost 4-0 to Germany.. Which was rather upsetting and embarrassing..
One of Australia's key players, Tim Cahill, was given a red card just after the 2nd half started.. which according to me and Josh (who plays soccer and actually knows the rules) was a bullshit call (pardon the french). Aussie's goalkeeper also missed a couple of balls that he should have been able to save. One of the goals bounced off the goal post and into the goal. However, in my opinion, the score shouldn't have been that high. But I also know absolutely nothing about soccer. Other than the obvious 1. no roughing the keeper, and 2. no touching the ball with your hands..
On a more positive note, USA tied 1-1 with England. Which, according to the die-hard soccer fans that I live with, was really good for America. Our goal actually was more luck than anything. It kinda bounced off the keeper's hands and then rolled into the goal. Yup. It rolled. We're just that awesome :] haha.. I didn't stay up to watch that game... I was going to wake up early, but then I decided that it wasn't worth it, so I went back to sleep. I did however stay up for the Australia/Germany game and as a result, caught some of the Ghana/Serbia game.
I foresee a lot of soccer in my near future haha :]
Here's a complete listing of all the results.. if you're interested..
Also - side note: Tour de France starts 4 July
