The Marriage, Farewell Dinner, and the Afterparty

Ok.. I explained proposal week somewhere else.. This was the culmination of proposal week. The "couple" with the best video got "married" at farewell dinner. I actually got to be part of the "ceremony." I played here comes the bride while everyone walked down the "aisle." Since the wedding took place in the dining hall, it wasn't really that romantic.. But it was quite nice. And very quick. And the "vows" were actually pretty funny. The groom promised to be faithful until a new crop of girls comes through next semester.. the "pastor" was really funny.

After the ceremony we got to sit through a bunch of speeches. I know everyone is just trying to say something like "Thanks for coming International Students, we're going to miss you," but they just insert so many useless words that it just becomes really boring. And everyone says the same thing. No joke. They may use different words, but seriously, every speech was basically the same thing :(

In between the speeches we got to eat. Dinner was okay. For our "entree" or appetizer or whatever they served us pumpkin soup that actually really tasted like squash soup but at the same time almost had no flavor. It was disgusting. I added heaps of pepper and salt and it made it edible. Not good, just edible. The main course was a choice between steak something and chicken stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese? Or something like that, with potatoes and carrots and green beans. It was actually really good, as far as the dining hall food goes. It was quite edible, which is a plus for the kitchen staff... And then they served us some kind of custard for dessert? I don't know, I wasn't the biggest fan. It had passion fruit (I think) drizzeled on the top of it.. With a dollop of cream.. Not the biggest fan.

After the Farewell Dinner for International Students, we all got ready to go out for the afterparty at King Street, which is a local pub. IH had rented out part of the pub so the public couldn't get in so we actually had a really good time without any guys creeping on us. It was really fun. Me and Bex and Emma got to dance on the dance floor, and in and around the couches and stuff. It was really cool.

The place was set up like it was from the 1950's or so.. There were fringes hanging from the ceiling.. I don't know how to describe it, but the decorations were awesome. There was even a tub filled with plants :]

Anyway, Bex and I didn't feel like staying out that long so at about 11:30 pm we took a taxi home and got back to IH about 15 min later. We then watched "The Incredibles." It was a nice end to a fun evening :]
